General Information on Student Halls of Residence and Private Accommodation

At the moment there are two main types of accommodation available for foreign students in Aalborg:

1. Student Halls of Residence (kollegium).
This type of accommodation is mainly for exchange students. You can be accommodated in

• a single room with shared facilities with other students, price in DKK: 1,850-2,550
• a small one person flat with your own bathroom and kitchen, price in DKK: 2,300-3,000
  

2. Private Accommodation.
This type of accommodation is mainly for Master's/degree students. You can be accommodated in

• a single room in a private home, price in DKK: 2,000-2,700
• a small one person flat with your own bathroom and kitchen, price in DKK: 2,700-3,100
• subletting a room from a Danish student who is going abroad, price in DKK: 2,000-2,800
• sharing a flat or a house with other students, price in DKK: 2,000-2,800
• sharing a room with another student, price in DKK: 1,850-2,200

(1 USD is approximately DKK 5.01. 1 Euro is approximately DKK 7.44 (Nov. 2009)).

The prices above are per month per person including heating, water, electricity, antenna outlet fee, maintenance fee and normal wear BUT NOT MEDIA LICENSE which you have to pay seperately. It should be noted that rent and other costs are subject to change once or twice every year. Price increases during the stay will be deducted from the deposit. The price of rent can be raised with a three months’ notice from the managing company or the International Accommodation Office. The price of heating, electricity, water, antenna outlet and maintenance can be raised with a six weeks’ notice.

The price for using the Internet depends on the company that provides the service. Almost all residences have Internet facilities.

AaB College:

From the fall 2009 the IAO has also got an agreement with AaB College. Here you can share a room with an other student and the bathroom with 2 other students. You get all the meals and coffee and the at the diner/cafeteria. You can use the sportsfacilities and watch tv in the tv lounge. You pay a fixed cost of DKK 4,200 per month and it includes full board and room.
